Was buying Jaguar by Ratan Tata actually an act to take revenge from Ford?

On 26th of March, 2008 TATA group took over Jaguar which is considered as a revenge taken by TATA from Ford.

TATA group is a leading business house in India known for values observed in their business practises along with there large scale business operations.

Mr. Ratan Tata a man, who continued the legacy of India’s most trusted business (TATA group).
Tata group launched its passenger car Tata Indica in year 1998. The group was led by Ratan Tata and it was his decision to enter in the passenger car business.
It proved to be a failure in its first year and the experiment seemed to be failing as well. Many people started advising Ratan Tata that he should sell the passenger car business. Ratan Tata also agreed to this and a proposal was given to Ford, they showed interest too. Ratan Tata, along with his close team members reached Detroit to discuss the same. Detroit hosts Ford headquarter and considered and the automobile hub of United States.

In the 3 hours meeting, it seemed that the behaviour of Ford people was insulting toward Tata group representatives. In the meeting, chairman of Ford (Bill Ford) said to Ratan Tata, “why did you enter in the passenger car business when you were not knowing of it. It will be favor if we buy this business from you”.

To these Mr. Ratan Tata decided to move back home. While travelling, he was very tense as the feeling of being insulted was on his mind.

When someone is insulted, anger is the only outcome. However, great people can use this anger to plan business policies and goals.

After earlier failures, Tata Motors did well with its business of passenger cars but in the same period, Ford did very bad. In 2008, when Ford was on its way of bankruptcy, Tata Group offered Ford to buy their luxury car brand Jaguar-Land Rover. Bill Ford, along with his team, reached “Bombay House”. “Bombay House” is the headquarter of Tata Group. The deal was finalized for 2.3 billion US $, which amounted to 9300 crore Indian Rupees at that time. Ford was incurring heavy losses from Jaguar – Land Rover division.

In the meeting, Bill Ford said to Ratan Tata, ” You are doing a big favor for us by buying Jaguar- Land Rover”.

Jaguar- Land Rover is now owned by Tata Group and is making huge profits.

Was the act (lynching the rape accused) of Mob in Dimapur, Nagaland Justifiable?

On 5th March, 2015 a mob consisting of around 10000 people broke into the Dimapur Central Jail by overpowering the police security and dragged out the accused of a rape case which happened on 23rd February and lynched him by dragging him 7km to the clock tower from the central jail in Dimapur, Nagaland.

According to the FIR filed by the victim ( a 20years old college student of Nagaland) she was raped in a hotel on 23rd February by the accused (35 years old Syed Farid Khan) and his appliance Nikavi. Both of were arrested on 25th February for rape and assault under sections 476, 344 & 363 of Indian Penal Code. But according to the accused it was “consensual sex” for which he paid Rs 5000.

Before the completion of the inquiry over the case the mob broke into the Dimapur central jail by overpowering the police security and dragged out the accused and than he was paraded naked, beaten inhumanly and dragged 7 km by a motor-cycle to the clock tower where he was to be hanged in public but he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the clock tower. The mob further in anger burnt 10 police vehicles and houses of Bangladesh immigrants.

This outrageous act of the mob was unlawful as well as unjustifiable as no one should take law in hands because it eventually results in worst situations. No matter how high people are but law is above all. And Indian constitution does not allow these kinds of acts and even morally the act is not justifiable as it is a barbaric and inhuman act done by the people as “Mob has many people but no brains.”

According to Indian Jurisprudence “A person is innocent unless proved guilty”
The suspect was killed before his crime was proved i.e the free & fair justification and investigation was disturbed. The rights of accused were violated. And due to this kind of act by people there is an adverse effect on the society and India will suffer a lot on sociological and legal point of view as it is the 1st time in Indian history when a jail has been broken in order to kill a prisoner.

Google doodle celebrates India Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan's one month in Mars orbit)

Google has put a special doodle for India celebrating Mangalyaan's one month in Mars orbit. The doodle which is static, unlike a few dynamic ones that Google puts out on some occasions, shows the Mangalyaan in outer space with a portion of the red planet in the background.

Mars Orbiter Mission also known as Mangalyaan, which was blasted off into space on November 5 last year, entered the Mars orbit on September 24. It has been one of the biggest scientific achievements for India, putting ISRO, India's space agency, in the select group of four space agencies that have successfully sent a probe to Mars orbit after the Soviet space program, NASA, and the European Space Agency. It is also the first nation to reach Mars orbit on its first attempt, and the first Asian nation to do so.

PM Narendra Modi - "History has been created today. We have achieved the near impossible. I congratulate all ISRO scientists and all my fellow Indians on this historic achievement," he said on the day Mangalyaan entered the Mars orbit. "The odds were stacked against us. Of the 51 missions attempted across the world so far, a mere 21 had succeeded. But we have prevailed."

Mangalyaan had sent several pictures of the planet. One of the images, which showed the red planet in its entirety, was widely shared and used across the world. Getting inspired from it, NASA in the US, made a Twitter account @MarsOrbiter - through which it shares the mission related news.

Flipkart's Apology to the Customers for The Big Billion Day sale issues.

Flipkart (The Online Megastore), a day after its Big Billion Day had sent a letter to its customers apologising for the faults in the site as they couldn't keep up with the heavy traffic.

The Big Billion Day sale got Flipkart more than a billion hits in a single day, but it turned to be a  nightmare for the website.

Discontented consumers expressed their displeasure on the social networks about hiked up prices,  order cancellations and the number of attempts to be made by them for purchasing a single product, along with Flipkart's servers throwing up random errors.

Here's Apology letter sent to customers by Flipkart:-

"Dear Customer,

Yesterday was a big day for us. And we really wanted it to be a great day for you.But at the end of the day, we know that your experience was less than pleasant. We did not live up to the promises we made and for that we are really and truly sorry.

It took enormous effort from everyone at Flipkart, many months of preparation and pushing our capabilities and systems to the limit to be able to create this day. We were looking at fulfilling the dreams of millions of Indian consumers through deals and offers we had painstakingly put together for months.

And though we saw unprecedented interest in our products and traffic like never before, we also realized that we were not adequately prepared for the sheer scale of the event. We didn't source enough products and deals in advance to cater to your requirements. To add to this, the load on our server led to intermittent outages, further impacting your shopping experience on our site.

An unprecedented 1.5 million people shopped at Flipkart yesterday. While we stand humbled by the sheer faith that such a large number of customers have shown in us, we are unhappy that we were unable to live up to the expectations of millions more who wanted to buy from us yesterday.

And this is not acceptable to us.

Delighting you, and every single one of our customers, is absolutely the top most priority for Flipkart and we have worked very hard over the last seven years to earn your trust. Yesterday, we failed that trust. We have learnt some valuable lessons from this and have started working doubly hard to address all the issues that cropped up during this sale.

Price Changes As we were preparing various deals and promotional pricing in the lead up to the sale, the pricing of several products got changed to their non-discounted rates for a few hours. We realise that this breaks the trust our customers have put in us. We are truly sorry for this and will ensure that this never happens again.

Out-of-stock Issues We ran out of the stock for many products within a few minutes (and in some cases, seconds) of the sale going live. For example, most of our special deals were sold out as soon as they went live. We had ensured availability, anywhere from hundreds to a few lakh units for various products, but it was nowhere near the actual demand. We promise to plan much better for future promotions and ensure that we minimise the out-of-stock issues.

Cancellations We had large number of people buying specific products simultaneously. This led to some instances of an order getting over-booked for a product that was sold out just a few seconds ago. We are working round-the-clock to ensure availability of additional units for these products and will do our level best to ensure that we minimise any cancellations.

Website Issues We realise that the shopping experience for many of you was frustrating due to errors and unavailability of the website at times. We had deployed nearly 5000 servers and had prepared for 20 times the traffic growth - but the volume of traffic at different times of the day was much higher than this. We are continuing to significantly scale up all our back end systems so that we do a much, much better job next time.

Everything that we have achieved at Flipkart is purely on the basis of our customer's trust and faith. This is why we come to work each day and continue to remain extremely passionate about building the best possible customer experience for Indian consumers. We failed to live up to this promise yesterday and would like to apologise once again to every single customer for our failure.

Thank you.
Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal (Founders) "
